Our Pierrette is a character from the Commedia Dell’Arte, although the patchwork dress of this paper doll seems to resemble that of Arlechinno/Arlequin.
Restored from my own fragile antique, this 19th century French jumping jack pattern was printed in color on newsprint by the famous paper toy publishers Pellerin.
For collectors, this is "Imagerie D'Epinal No. 1346 by Imagerie Pellerin.
Print, cut and assemble this primitive toy without fear of ruining a rare antique. It's Easy!
Reduced to 84% of the original size in order that she may be printed on the average home ink jet printer on standard 8 1/2 x 11 paper.
Image resolution is 266 pixels-per-inch for stunning results on your home printer.
Print as often as you'd like! Choose your own papers, from parchment for a vintage look, to bright white ink jet paper to capture the vivid original colors.
After printing and cutting, notice the circles near the ends where the joints are to be attached. Use a paper punch or awl to make your hole. Align the joints to these holes and fasten using eyelets or common paper fasteners. Assembled, this paper doll stands about 14 1/2 inches tall.
Ideas
Would look great as part of a festive party garland. Just string them together.
Or add excitement to your next altered book project with this articulated paper embellishment.
Make clever invitations for children's parties. Print on one side, write the party info on the reverse, fold her up and put her in an envelope.
Let me know what fun things you do with her, I'd love to see how she "gets around".
